Sound bathing mediation
Sound bath in a deep meditation, immersed in live sound.

A sound bath is deep meditation, immersed in live sound.

A sound bath, sometimes called sound healing, is a form of deep meditation where you're immersed in live sound. There's no water involved, only the sustained, resonant vibrations of singing bowls, gongs, drums, cymbals, and more, washing gently over you.

Unlike music, there's nothing to follow or analyse. With nothing to track, the mind naturally lets go, and the body follows. It's an effortless way to find genuine stillness, even if you've never meditated before.

Please note: Sound bathing is a complementary therapy. It is intended to support your wellbeing alongside, not in place of, any medical treatment or advice from your doctor. If you have a pacemaker, sound-sensitive epilepsy, or are in your first trimester of pregnancy, please get in touch before booking.

What to Expect

Every session at Mel's Healing Sanctuary is built around your comfort and ease.

Settle In, Lie down on a comfortable mat, supported by blankets and cushions. There's nothing to do but relax.

The Sound Journey, As the instruments begin, gentle vibrations resonate through the body, encouraging held tension to soften and release.

Deep Rest, Most people drift into a state between waking and sleep, a place where the mind quiets and the body resets deeply.

Gentle Return, Each session closes with a few moments of silence, allowing you to surface slowly, feeling grounded and refreshed.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you're new to sound bathing, you may have questions about what to expect and whether it's right for you. Here are answers to the most common questions.

Do I need meditation experience?

Not at all. The sound gives your mind something to settle into naturally, no technique or prior experience required.

Is it suitable for everyone?

Most people benefit greatly from sound bathing. If you have a pacemaker, sound-sensitive epilepsy, or are in your first trimester of pregnancy, please get in touch before booking.

What should I wear?

Comfortable, warm clothing and thick socks are recommended, as your body temperature can drop during deep relaxation.

Why is it called a "bath"?

The name comes from the idea that sound waves wash over and surround you, holding you in a comfortable, relaxed state, much like being immersed in water.

How long is a session?

Sessions typically last between 30 and 90 minutes. Both group and 1-1 sessions are available.

"I attended Mel's mediumship evening at the weekend and she was amazing. She's very intuitive, specific and great at communicating what spirit are telling her. I've also had a card reading and she came to my friend's home to do a mediumship evening with individuals from our group. I highly recommend Mel."
